Reflecting on our week:
The New Kid play

We had fun listening to two different points of view about what really happened to the three little pigs. After hearing these two stories we worked on writing a story of our own based on a villains point of view. It was amazing how convincing A. Wolf was; only three students believed the three little pigs side of the story after they read his story.

The students loved working on their social studies project. They are creating a Barefoot Island that must include specific things they learned over the past two weeks. They will be displayed in the hallway next week!

We had a busy week but we took time out to talk about Veterans Day. We are making a flag art project, inspired by artist Jasper Johns. We will be sending our flag art, along with special cards to a few Zion Church members who are Veterans.

Mr. Bernhardt will be leading a new Sunday morning Bible study for parents, starting this weekend, during the Sunday School hour (9:30-10:30). I had the privilege of hearing Mr. Tim Elmore speak at the LEA conference this past weekend. I am excited to discuss the topic of parenting and educating generation iY. I hope you can join me. Below is a preview:
You've heard of the Baby Boomers, the Gen Xr's and Gen Y'rs, but what about today's kids? Today's kids are a "different animal".  Consider these facts about today's kids: they've never rode a bike without a helmet, never road in a car without a seatbelt, have always cooked popcorn in a microwave, and think that Bono and Madonnna are aging singers.  Today's generation of kids are referred to as Generation iY.  Come to Bible study at Zion starting this Sunday and learn how we can best parent and educate this generation of kids.  Based on Author Tim Elmore's book, Jon Bernhardt will lead you through a discussion rich study on Generation iY!
