The students are doing a great job with summarizing and creative writing but we needed to work on writing to answer a specific question. Student work will come home in Friday folders next week for you to look at and compare to the writing assessment scoring guide I sent home last week.

Mrs. Riemenschneider's class came down to show off their awesome lapbooks. Mrs. Riemenschneider used the Olympics to spring board a lesson on countries and research. The second graders loved interacting with the 6th graders and seeing their work. They also learned some interesting facts while having a great time.

Reflecting on our week:
If your child came home on Monday wanting to mix ketchup and mustard together I might know why! I told them a story about how much I liked eating this when I was little. We were learning about the power of persuasion. We touched on it last week and the students were still struggling with it so I decide to reteach it this week. I ended the lesson with a poster contest. Students have a much greater use for classroom tools if they are a part of making them. They gain ownership of information by creating the materials they use in the classroom. They also have a great time doing it!
It was amazing how many I convinced to try my ketchup and mustard dip.

We had fun making mosaic hearts using recycled magazines.
