*We did not start Science this week due to student absences. We spent the week finishing up our Social Studies unit on factories. I have changed my Science plans and I have decided to start chapter 1- plants next week due to our upcoming field trip to the Butterfly House. This will allow us to finish up life cycles just in time for our visit.

Auction is April 4, it is a great night. It would be fun to have several second grade tables attend!! I am excited to see our finished class quilt! You will want to be there to bid on this keepsake!
Reflecting on our week:
This week during guided reading we focused on writing. After reading a book together on the smartboard we met in small groups to work writing responses. The students are doing a great job with summarizing and creative writing but we needed to work on writing to answer a specific question. Student work will come home in Friday folders next week for you to look at and compare to the writing assessment scoring guide I sent home last week.
Mrs. Riemenschneider's class came down to show off their awesome lapbooks. Mrs. Riemenschneider used the Olympics to spring board a lesson on countries and research. The second graders loved interacting with the 6th graders and seeing their work. They also learned some interesting facts while having a great time.
