Looking ahead:
Memory: The Third Article of the Apostle's Creed- I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Spelling (old/ame) fold, hold, mold, sold, cold, flame, came, fame, name
Grammar: continue to work with nouns and start action verbs
Phonics: Long and Short U
Math: Fact TEST Tuesday and written TEST Wednesday
Social Studies: We will take a break from science and start to learn about communities.
Writing: We have started writing a book on the characters of Genesis. After talking about our religion lessons, we discovered it can be very hard to keep all of the characters straight. We decided it would help to make a book about some of our favorite characters. These will be books you will want to keep! The students have been doing a wonderful job on them. I love to read what they have to say about the people they have learned about. While building their faith and understanding they are also learning about the writing process!

Important dates and info:
The Bobcat Shuffle will take place on Oct. 19th at LHS. Please visit http://tinyurl.com/pcga8po to volunteer.

Trunk-or-Treat is scheduled for Friday, October 11th. More information will follow at a later date.

Reflecting our week:

We had fun reviewing for our science test. Everyone is excited to make a compass today. The materials will be coming home in their backpacks today.

Kayla is cracking up because Avery told an awesome joke! Second grade is a time when students really start to develop their humor. I have decided that the student of the day may share a joke with the class, if they wish. Developing their humor is important because it calls on world experiences that they are just staring to remember and obtain.
Avery's joke, "I told my mom all I learned at school today by saying the alphabet backwards...but then I told her I left some letters out. I left out URAQT (you are a cutie)!"     It was a crowd pleaser, after they got it.
